What foiling buys, and what it costs

The 8S is one of very few electric boats that answers the range problem with hydrodynamics rather than with a bigger battery. Foiling cuts drag sharply once the boat is flying, which is how a 2,560 kg hull reaches a quoted 38 knots and still shows 37 nautical miles of range — a combination that a conventional planing electric hull of the same weight would struggle to match. It also means the boat is at its most efficient at speed, which inverts the usual electric-boat logic where slowing down buys range.

Who should not buy it

Anyone who wants a family day boat. There is no cabin, no berths, and foiling craft demand attention to obstacles, debris and shallow water in a way displacement boats do not. Foil systems also add moving structure below the waterline that has to be inspected and serviced.

The caveats that matter most

Edorado has stopped publishing battery capacity and motor output. Third-party figures circulate; none of them are the builder's, and none should be relied on. That is a real gap when you are being asked to trust a range claim. Add very low build numbers, and a buyer takes on genuine risk on parts, residuals and long-term support. Demand written specifications and a service commitment before committing.
