An engineering statement
The numbers that eD-TEC does publish are striking. The eD 32 c-ultra's 400 kW in a 2,300 kg hull is a power-to-weight ratio far above anything else in the 9–10 metre electric class, and 2,300 kg for 9.5 metres is exceptionally light — this is a boat conceived around going fast, not around quiet cruising. The company's stated approach, moving a hull from displacement through planing to foiling to cut drag as speed rises, is the reason those figures make sense together: high-speed electric boating is only viable if the hull stops fighting the water.
The honest problem
A 105 kWh battery feeding 400 kW is, arithmetically, a short leash at full power. Without a builder-published range figure at a stated speed, a buyer cannot judge whether this is a 30-minute thrill or a usable coastal boat. Speed, range and charge-time figures circulate in the trade press, but eD-TEC's own pages carry none of them, and we have deliberately not recorded second-hand numbers.
Who should consider it
Early adopters comfortable buying from a young technology company rather than an established yard, and who want performance rather than endurance. Anyone whose priority is a full day out should look at heavier, lower-powered boats in this size. Ask eD-TEC directly for range at a named cruising speed and for the charging standard supported.
